Milenko Prvacki

Milenko Prvački was born in 1951 in (former) Yugoslavia. He graduated with a Master of Fine Arts (Painting) from the Institutul de Arte Plastice “Nicolae Grigorescu” in Bucharest, Romania. He is one of Singapore’s foremost artists and art educators, having taught at LASALLE College of the Arts since 1994. He was Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts for 10 years and is currently a Senior Fellow, Office of the President at the College. He also founded Tropical Lab, an annual international art camp for graduate students, and ISSUE Art Journey.
Milenko has exhibited extensively in Europe since 1971; in Singapore and the region since 1993. He participated in major exhibitions, most notably the Biennale of Sydney in 2006, and numerous symposiums and art workshops worldwide. His work is collected by various private and public collections, such as the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australia; Museum of Contemporary Art, Belgrade, Serbia; Museum of Contemporary Drawing, Nurnberg, Germany, Singapore Art Museum, National Gallery Singapore amongst others. Milenko became a Singaporean citizen in 2002. He was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in 2011, and Singapore’s Cultural Medallion for Visual Arts in 2012. In 2020, Milenko received the 22nd Sava Šumanović Fine Art Award, the Serbian national art award for Visual Arts.
