Drift Away

Drift Away

2014
Dye, watercolour, Hanji (Korean traditional paper) on Fabriano paper
100 x 120 cm

Inspired by Shinkai Makoto’s 5cm/sec, which is the speed at which cherry blossoms petals fall, I created petals as a metaphoric representation of human relationships and the slowness of life, how people stay together but slowly drift into their separate ways. I reflect the shapes of irregular circles as the most essential individual form, not only as the reminiscence of petals.
